Content

All of the content in your PLI PLUS subscription is available on the app. The app is a companion to the PLI PLUS website, allowing you to perform robust searches, make notes, add highlights and bookmarks, as well as download materials to read when you are offline.

Login

After downloading the app to your iPhone or iPad, you can login using your PLI credentials.

To reset your password, use the ‘Forgot Password’ feature located on the login screen. You will be asked to provide your email address and will receive an email with a temporary password and instructions on how to reset your password.

Navigation

Tap back until you see the menu icon ( ). Open to reveal the navigation menu. From there, tap Home to access home screen.

Search

Most of the search capabilities you use on PLI PLUS are also available through the app. Terms & Connectors and Natural Language searches can be used in conjunction with the Advanced Search Options across a specific content type or all content types when you have a connection.

When you are viewing a document, press the search icon ( ) on the bottom tab bar and type in your search. If your document contains multiple search results, you can jump to the next result using the forward ( ) or back ( ) buttons.

Managing Your Research

As you’re viewing content on the app, you can highlight or bookmark the text, or add a note.


To add a Bookmark, tap the bookmark icon () on any page.

  1. To Highlight text or add a Note, select the text and press the screen until ( ) appears.
  2. Select Copy, Highlight or Note.
  3. You can adjust the selected text by dragging the anchors to cover the text you want to reference.
  4. If you choose to add a Note, type the note in the resulting pop-up window and press Save.

  1. The notations icon ( ) will appear next to an item that contains Highlights, Notes, and/or Bookmarks.
  2. To view a notation, open the document that contains your notation. Press the page icon ( ). From here, you can view all Highlights, Notes, and/or Bookmarks within the document. You can also jump to the exact location in the document where the notation was made by clicking on the bottom right corner of the notation. For example, you can press ‘280 | Highlight’ ( ) and it will bring you to the highlighted portion in the text.

To delete a Highlight or Note, tap on the notation. A pop-up menu will appear in which you can choose delete or edit the notation.

Shelves and My Downloads

Adding content to a shelf allows you to manage, organize and access content in a central location, while downloading content to your device allows you to view it while offline. Before you download content to your device, you will first be prompted to add the item to a shelf.

From Browse or a search results page:
  1. Press Select
  2. Choose the item(s) you want to add
  3. Press the bookshelf icon ( )
  4. Select a shelf or create a new shelf

From a Table of Contents page, if you want add book chapters or transcript segments:
  1. Press Select
  2. Choose the item(s) you want to add
  3. Press the bookshelf icon ( )
  4. Select a shelf or create a new shelf

From a Table of Contents page, if you want to add the entire book or program transcript:
  1. Press the more icon ( )
  2. Add Book to Shelf
  3. Select a shelf or create a new shelf

There are several different ways to download content to your device. To download a single book or chapter to your device, you can do so from Browse, a search results page, or the Table of Contents. To download an entire book or program transcript, you can do so from Browse or from the Table of Contents. To download multiple items, you can do so from a shelf.

From Browse or a search results page:
  1. Press Select
  2. Choose the item you want to download
  3. Press the download icon ( )
  4. Select a shelf or create a new shelf
Please note that you can download an entire book from Browse, but only one chapter at a time from search results.

From a Table of Contents page:
  1. To download an entire book or program transcript, select the “Download to Device” link at the bottom right of an iPad or press the more icon ( ) from the bottom right of your iPhone and select “Download to Device”
  2. To download a chapter, press Select
  3. Choose the chapter you want to download
  4. Press the download icon ( )
  5. Select a shelf or create a new shelf

From a Shelf:
  1. Add all the items that you want to download to a shelf
  2. Navigate to that shelf
  3. Press Select to select the item(s) you want to download
  4. Press Select All to select all items on a shelf
  5. Press the download icon ( )

Please note that when downloading an item to your device, you will be prompted to add the item to a shelf first. In addition, you can only download one book or chapter at a time to your device from the Browse and search results screen.

From a shelf:
  1. Press Select
  2. Choose the item(s) you want to move
  3. Press the move icon ( )
  4. Select a shelf or create a new shelf

From My Shelves, swipe left on the item that you want to delete, and then press Delete.
If an item is downloaded to your device, you will be given two options:
  1. Delete From Shelf – The item will no longer be downloaded to your device or placed on your shelf. You will be able to locate the item(s) again using Search or Browse.
  2. Delete From Device – The item will no longer be downloaded to your device and will therefore not be accessible offline. However, it will remain on your shelf.

From My Downloads, swipe left on the item that you want to delete, and then press Delete. The item will no longer be accessible offline but will remain on your shelf.

From My Shelves, swipe left on the shelf that you want to delete, and then press Delete. Please note that when deleting a shelf, it will delete everything from the shelf, and remove any shelf items that had been downloaded to your device.

  1. From My Downloads, you can see the size of each individual item. In addition, the total size of all content downloaded to your device from the PLI PLUS app is at the bottom of this screen. Content size varies for each item based on how many pages and/or images are within a chapter.
  2. If you want to delete a document to create more space, swipe left on the item that you want to delete, and then press Delete.

Settings

You can adjust the font size, as well as change the font, spacing between sentences and page layout. These changes can be made by using the settings icon ( ) from the tab bar on the bottom of the screen when viewing content. Any changes will be applied to all documents. You also have the option to reset to the default settings.
