Lauri Sawyer is a trial lawyer with experience litigating complex disputes in federal and state courts, as well as in domestic and international arbitral forums.  Lauri has litigated cases involving complex financial products, derivatives, collateralized debt obligations, securities, shareholders claims, insurance coverage, project finance, executive compensation and advertising claims.  In addition to being comfortable in the courtroom, Lauri also advises and assists clients in resolving disputes prior to trial through negotiation and mediation.  Recently, Lauri was derivatives counsel to Lehman Brothers Holdings, Inc. and its affiliated debtors and tried the first derivatives cases in the Lehman bankruptcy.

Lauri regularly litigates in the international arena, particularly in disputes arising from financial products and foreign investments.  She has participated in foreign court proceedings and appeals, as well as worldwide discovery and enforcement efforts.  Lauri's international arbitration experience includes arbitrations pursuant to the AAA, ICC, and UNCITRAL rules, as well as ad hoc arbitrations.  Lauri is experienced in the enforcement of arbitration awards and collateral proceedings designed to protect arbitration clauses.  Prior to joining Jones Day, Lauri prosecuted several significant bilateral investment treaty disputes on behalf of foreign investors.

Lauri is also well-versed in disputes arising under the Lanham Act, particularly claims of false advertising.  She has successfully prosecuted and defended actions in federal court and before the National Advertising Division (NAD) of the Better Business Bureau.  Moreover, Lauri regularly advises clients on marketing strategies, product launches and compliance issues.

Lauri is strongly committed to pro bono service, especially for clients with matrimonial and immigration issues.  Lauri regularly lectures and teaches on ediscovery issues.  She also serves on several advisory and nonprofit boards, including the Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival.


Marla Crawford is a graduate of Duke University and a magna cum laude graduate of the Boston University School of Law.  Marla is currently a Vice President, Associate General Counsel in the Litigation Group of the Legal Department at Goldman Sachs where she has diverse responsibilities, including managing the Firm’s global e-discovery efforts,  managing civil litigation and regulatory matters, and advising on issues of law and technology.  She practiced law at Jones Day for 25 years, specializing in the discovery phase of litigation.  She has worked on securities law, product liability, commercial, bankruptcy and employment law cases concentrating on electronic discovery issues.  Marla's expertise involves counseling corporations with respect to the preservation, collection, review and production of electronic information.  Marla is a regular speaker on electronic discovery issues.


Steven C. Bennett's practice at Park Jensen Bennett LLP (New York City) focuses on complex domestic and international commercial litigation and arbitration, including bankruptcy, construction, corporate governance, data security, energy, privacy, real estate and other matters. Mr. Bennett gained extensive trial experience during six years at the Office of the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, where he served as Chief of the Tax and Bankruptcy Unit, and nearly twenty years as a partner in a major international law firm.
