Terry Lawson is the Director of Bronx Legal Services' (BLS) Family and Immigration Unit. Terry has been representing survivors of intimate partner violence in a wide range of family, matrimonial, and immigration law matters for the past ten years. She is a member of the Lawyers Committee Against Domestic Violence and the NYS Advisory Council on Immigration Issues in Family Court, and she co-leads the Bronx Immigration Partnership and the Bronx Domestic Violence Roundtable. Prior to joining BLS, Terry was a litigation associate with Sidley Austin LLP, where she represented Her Justice clients through its pro bono and externship programs. Terry has a bachelor’s degree from Yale, a Masters of Public Policy from Harvard, and a Juris Doctorate and a Certificate in Refugee and Humanitarian Emergencies from Georgetown.
Ian Harris is the Technology Safety Legal Manager at the National Network to End Domestic Violence (NNEDV). Mr. Harris has over 10 years of direct litigation experience on behalf of survivors of intimate partner abuse in family, matrimonial, and immigration law matters. Prior to joining NNEDV, Ian served as the Director of the Family Law/Domestic Violence Unit at Staten Island Legal Services (SILS) in New York City and as a staff attorney with the New York Legal Assistance Group’s (NYLAG) Matrimonial & Family Law Unit and at Day One, a NYC-based organization that focuses on young survivors of intimate partner abuse. Ian teaches extensively on the intersection of technology and domestic violence, including on judicial ethics and technological evidence. He is an Adjunct Professor at American University Washington College of Law, a faculty member for the National Judicial Institute on Domestic Violence, an advisory Committee Member for the Resource Center on Domestic Violence: Child Protection and Custody, and a consultant for the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges. He received his JD from the American University Washington College of Law and an MA from the American University School of International Service.
Isabel Heine is a Senior Staff Attorney in the Family and Immigration Unit of Bronx Legal Services. Her areas of practice focus on serving survivors of intimate partner violence and include family law matters, such as orders of protection and custody and visitation proceedings, and immigration matters, such as VAWA self-petitions, U Visa, and asylum cases. Ms. Heine graduated from Seton Hall University School of Law in May 2014. She is fluent in Spanish.
