Didi Caldwell is one of the world’s most authoritative site selection and incentive negotiations experts specializing in capital-, labor- and resource-intensive industrial projects. Since 1998, Mrs. Caldwell has personally conducted location advisory services in more than 30 countries for both domestic capital investment and foreign direct investment projects in excess of $40 billion.
She is the current Vice Chair and Immediate Past-Chair of the Site Selectors Guild, a peer-nominated association of the world’s leading corporate location advisors. Highly respected among her peers and industry executives for her expertise on matters pertaining to manufacturing and industrial locations and operations, she is frequently invited to speak at economic development and industry conferences. She is also a favorite go-to source for national news media seeking professional commentary and opinion on stories related to site selection and incentive negotiations.
Mrs. Caldwell began her career in 1998 with the global engineering and construction firm FLUOR where she spent six years providing location advisory services for projects all over the world. In 2004 she became president of InRe Financial, a capital advisory firm serving the needs of public education institutions. Under her leadership, InRe arranged the financing of a revolutionary $1B K-12 school facilities construction project, representing the largest deal of its kind in the U.S. at that time.
Feeling the tug of her roots in site selection and incentive negotiations, Mrs. Caldwell left InRe Financial in 2008 to open her own firm, which today operates as Global Location Strategies (GLS). To date, GLS has supported both domestic capital investment and foreign direct investment projects valued at $7.6 billion and generating 7,213 jobs.
Mrs. Caldwell has an International MBA from the prestigious University of South Carolina Darla Moore School of Business. She graduated summa cum laude from Clemson University with a B.A. in Architecture. She is a graduate of Leadership South Carolina and later served on its Board of Directors. Fluent in English and Spanish, she holds dual citizenship in the US and Australia.
Gideon Gradman is an energy executive and advisor on matters of energy, environmental and industrial development. As Managing Director at Baker Tilly Capital and Founder of Integrated Energy Advisors, he advises companies, asset owners, and investors on corporate strategy, energy commodity markets, and the development or redevelopment of energy and industrial assets, from deal origination, to real estate site selection, site acquisition, and divestiture, to feedstock supply, transportation strategy, and financing, with a particular focus on natural gas-related industries. He also advises cities and regional government agencies on economic development strategies. With over 16 years of experience leading corporate strategy, business development, and industrial real estate development in the oil & gas, chemicals, and waste management sectors, Gideon is a trusted advisor to corporate leaders and government officials. Prior to founding Integrated Energy Advisors, Gideon served as U.S> Director of Business Development for Braskem, a worldwide maker of polymers and petrochemicals, where he was responsible for developing new businesses, and new manufacturing and logistics assets in the United States. Prior to his work at Braskem, Gideon held management and advisory positions at Charles River Associates, Deloitte, BP, and two venture-capital funded portfolio companies. He also served as a Public Member of Massachusetts Energy Facilities Siting Board, the statewide authority charged with licensing the construction of major energy infrastructure in the state, from 2006-2007, appointed by the Governor of Massachusetts.
Mr. Gradman holds an MBA and a Master’s degree of Public Policy from the University of Chicago, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and a Bachelor of Science in Applied Science from Washington University in St. Louis.
As co-chair of the firm’s environmental practice group, Andy Levine is focused on cultivating and expanding the energy economy in the mid-Atlantic region and beyond.
Having started his career litigating multimedia enforcement cases against refineries, pipelines and solid waste companies, he was soon recruited by Waste Management to implement the very types of programs at issue in many of these cases. While at Waste Management, Andy oversaw landfill and transfer station expansions, permitting and compliance throughout the Eastern Seaboard, and also developed the strategic landfill gas-to-energy program that formed the basis for his current energy practice in natural gas.
As an experienced deal architect he maximizes his clients’ ROI in constructing and operating energy and environmental infrastructure projects, obtains the best possible financing and tax treatment, and evaluates the most advantageous deal and organizational structure. He also finds the most strategic means for environmental compliance and permitting, with a keen focus on the clients’ business development plans, and most of all, the bottom line.
