Adam Becker joined Endeavor this year to oversee global legal operations and has responsibility for outside counsel management, litigation operations, legal technology and the contract management process.  Before Endeavor, Adam worked at MetLife as AVP, Legal Operations for the US legal department where he also was responsible for the management of legal support services.  Adam spent a decade working in law firms focusing on office management, professional development and recruiting.  He began his career as an Intellectual Property associate at Skadden, Arps.  He is a graduate of the University of Michigan Law School and New York University.


Ameen Haddad is an Assistant General Counsel at Oracle America, Inc. and a member of Oracle’s Legal Operations Group. Ameen manages Oracle Legal’s global knowledge management and training program with support from a team of international lawyers, analysts, and IT specialists. Together, they create and deploy innovative solutions for Oracle’s Legal Department across all practice areas through the use of websites, playbooks, e-learning modules, live trainings, as well as proprietary and third-party tools. Ameen also provides strategic direction and guidance to senior management and cross-functional business teams on an array of complex technology issues, including intellectual property, risk management and compliance, as well as data privacy and security.  In addition, Ameen regularly drafts and negotiates the spectrum of technology and intellectual property transactions, including cloud computing (SaaS, PaaS and IaaS), data services (ad tech and marketing tech), software licensing, hardware, and professional services, and serves as the lead attorney for Oracle’s billable subcontractor program. 

Ameen has received a CIPP/US certification, and is a frequent internal and external speaker and trainer on Cloud computing, software licensing, and knowledge management topics. Prior to joining Oracle, Ameen was an associate at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP, where he represented public and private companies in mergers and acquisitions, corporate formation and governance, and financing transactions.  Ameen received a J.D. from Boston University School of Law and a B.S. in Political Science and Government from Bowdoin College. 


Basha Rubin is the CEO and Co-Founder of Priori, the legal marketplace changing the way in-house teams find, hire and manage outside counsel. Using data and technology, Priori rapidly connects teams from 1 to 1000+ with the right attorney for any project globally. Priori's clients include Fortune 500 enterprises and leading technology companies, who use Priori's platform to find vetted attorneys at firms of all sizes for projects requiring niche expertise, local counsel, cost-control or overflow capacity support. Priori was named a Financial Times Intelligent Business in 2018 and 2019 for its work reducing legal costs for Hearst Corporation. 

Basha writes and speaks extensively on how technology is changing and will change the marketplace for legal services. Her work has been featured in Forbes, Techcrunch, Entrepreneur and Corporate Counsel, and she has spoken at ABA Techshow, Women in Legal Technology Conference, Clio Cloud Conference, SXSW, Reinvent Law, SOLID Conference and Legal Geek. Basha has been named an ABA Journal Legal Rebel, Financial Times Top 10 Legal Business Technologist, LTRC Woman of LegalTech, StrtupBoost 33 Under 33 and is part of Baylor Law School's "The Braintrust." She holds a JD and BA from Yale University and is a member of the New York Bar.


Charandeep Kaur is the head of Worldwide Legal Operations and Chief of Staff to the General Counsel at Juniper Networks. She and her team provide data-driven and purpose fit People, Process and Technology solutions that enable the Juniper Legal team to become a competitive advantage for business. Prior to Juniper, Charandeep supported Operations at various levels in the Legal and Compliance organizations at Cisco Systems. Before Cisco, Charandeep held various technology roles in companies including Chicago Mercantile Exchange, SBC Telecom, Ranbaxy Pharmaceuticals and NIIT Technologies. Charandeep holds a Masters in Computer Science and is passionate about leveraging technology and data to drive operational excellence. Juniper Legal Operations team’s efforts were honored with the 2019 Financial Times Innovative Lawyers Award for Technology and Data.


James L. Michalowicz is the Senior Manager – Legal Operations Business Performance for TE Connectivity based in Berwyn, PA.  He serves as the law department’s leader for the company’s TE Operating Advantage and Extraordinary Customer Experience programs.  His responsibilities include all aspects of legal operations management along with litigation management, eDiscovery and information governance.  He is known as an industry leader in developing outside counsel and alternative legal service provider (ALSP) networks, designing value-based fee arrangements, instituting dynamic performance metrics and tracking scorecards, applying Six Sigma and Lean to drive efficiency and implementing AI to accelerate the delivery of services to customers.  Mr. Michalowicz has worked 20 years in-house serving in various law department operation leadership roles at DuPont and Tyco International.  He is a charter member of the Sedona Conference Working Group One, Georgetown Advanced eDiscovery Institute and Legal AI Efficacy advisory boards.  In addition, Mr. Michalowicz is a Six Sigma Black Belt and certified Lean practitioner.


Kate Orr is Senior Innovation Counsel for Orrick.

Orrick has been named by the Financial Times as the Most Innovative Law Firm in North America from 2016-2018 and runner-up in 2019. Kate is key member of Orrick’s innovation team. She works closely with clients and attorneys to implement novel products, streamlined processes, and technology solutions, all with an eye for higher quality and more efficient service.

Kate also leads CaseStream, Orrick's homegrown case management system, which streamlines the day-to-day management of litigation and transactions. The Financial Times recognized CaseStream as the #1 most innovative New Product and Service in 2017.

Kate represented commercial clients in complex trial and appellate litigation throughout the United States at Orrick. She remains active in numerous pro bono matters and was awarded the first annual Orrick Pro Bono Award. Kate also served as an adjunct professor of Legal Writing and Oral Advocacy at the University Maryland School of Law.


Kay Kim serves as the Senior Director of Practice Innovation at Crowell & Moring LLP.  The firm created this role for Kay to help set the firm’s strategy on innovation in legal service delivery.  Kay is responsible for identifying, implementing and ensuring adoption of technology and other innovative solutions to enhance practice performance and expand and deepen existing client relationships while enhancing the firm’s ability to compete effectively for new business.  Recognizing that clients seek partnership beyond legal advice, Kay is devoted solely to innovative delivery of legal services with the ultimate goal of driving more value for our clients.

Prior to taking on this new role at the firm, Kay led a dynamic team of business development and practice management professionals supporting the firm’s practice groups and cross-practice departments/working groups.  Kay has over 20 years of experience in the legal services industry in both attorney and non-attorney roles.  She was a corporate attorney at DLA Piper in New York and then at Crowell & Moring in Washington, DC.  She also served as in-house counsel at Direct Holdings Americas Inc. (formerly, Time Life Inc.) before returning to Crowell & Moring. 


Ken Callander is Managing Principal of Value Strategies LLC, a consulting firm that specifically works with corporate legal departments helping them get more value and predictability from their outside counsel relationships.  His specialty is helping clients transition their engagements with law firms from the hourly fee pricing model to value-based fee arrangements.  For corporations this process not only provides better legal budget predictability while eliminating legal invoice review, but it also reduces total legal spend by an average of 20% - 50%.  His current clients include the largest companies in ride-sharing, money transfer, social media and internet search along with multi-national conglomerates and the largest university system in the United States. 

As the founder of Value Strategies LLC, Ken was Head of Legal Operations and Chief of Staff to the General Counsel at Uber Technologies.  Prior to Uber, Ken was the Chief Marketing Officer and Director of Business Development at Davis Wright Tremaine LLP, a 600-attorney international law firm and before that was an executive at Hewlett Packard in operations and marketing where he was considered an expert in the pricing of professional services.  Ken graduated with a degree in Physics/Physical Sciences from Stanford University, is a Certified Pricing Professional (CPP) and lives in San Francisco. 


Sophia Davis is currently Director, Legal Operations Programs & Analytics at Oracle, reporting directly to the Vice President of Legal Operations, Christine Coats under EVP and GC, Dorian Daley’s organization.  Oracle offers a comprehensive and fully integrated stack of cloud applications and platform services.

Before joining Oracle, Ms. Davis spent the majority of her nine years at Symantec as a Senior Analyst in Legal Operations.  In this role, she supported the centralized operation of its legal and public relations teams.  Ms. Davis was also responsible for executing significant expense reductions through preferred outside counsel programs, as well as implementing an e-billing system, automated accrual process, and company-wide records retention policy and program.

Prior to Symantec, Ms. Davis held a variety of analytical and support positions working cross functionally and globally in collaboration with executive leadership, to administer and execute operational strategies spanning over 15 years.  She has implemented a variety of tools and programs, policies and processes to achieve objectives that contribute to process efficiency, cost savings, and enhanced capabilities which support corporate and business partners.

She currently co-lead Oracle’s Legal Diversity and Inclusion Committee, is an active volunteer of Oracle’s OPEN Allies group, as well as a member and assists the leadership team of CLOC, Corporate Legal Operations Consortium.


Tara Gay-Sarnoff is the VP Legal Operations at American Express, focusing on Legal Learning & Development, Technology Strategy, Risk Analysis and Special Projects.  She joined Amex in 2014 and held Director roles within the International Business Development consumer group, Network Strategy and Enterprise Strategy & Execution teams. 

Prior to Amex, Tara held Business Development and Strategy roles within the Travel industry at British Airways and AIG.   Tara holds a BA in History and an MBA, both from George Washington University.  She resides in Westchester County where she uses HGTV ideas to continuously improve her house.  When not renovating, Tara enjoys swimming and taking day trips around the NY Metro area with her husband and 4 year old daughter.


Angie has been at the forefront of industry transformation beginning in healthcare and most recently in the legal sector. She has years of experience as a consultant helping clients develop, implement and maintain standardized procedures, playbooks and templates, as well as process improvement and project management techniques. In addition, she has evaluated, developed and customized technologies, including artificial intelligence, to support contract review. She is a certified Lean Black Belt and now works directly with in-house legal teams to identify operational opportunities to improve efficiency and effectiveness and to better manage risk.

Representative Experience

  • Successfully applied project management techniques and tools to align a company’s strategic objectives to law department projects which resulted in significant improvements in achievement of all the department’s KPI objectives that were within their control.
  • Managed a project for a global energy company to develop a process to review over 1200 procurement contracts to support effective contract hierarchy management in recently deployed ERP systems. Identified systemic contracting improvements opportunities to drive consistency in contracting.
  • Served as the Legal Project Manager and developed a process with supporting technology workflow to manage a complicated document collection process between a law firm, a third party outsourced provider and a law department client in support of an IP litigation.
  • Created a process improvement education program using Lean and Six Sigma concepts for an Am Law 200 law firm.

Speaking Engagements

  • Angie is a Guest Lecturer and Advisor for the Institute for the Future of Law Practice’s Boot Camp Program at the University of Colorado Boulder Law School, which includes training and mentoring law students during the yearly boot camp on process improvement techniques using Six Sigma and Lean concepts.

Don spent his legal career advising high growth technology companies, public companies, venture capital firms and investment banks. He has advised clients on more than 60 public offerings, 75 acquisition transactions and several hundred venture financings.

Chambers USA recognized Don for his work, noting he "is valued for his knowledge of venture capital firms and his strength in advising technology companies on public offerings, acquisition transactions and venture financings. One client insists that 'I would not dream of starting a company without him as my outside counsel.'"

Don has held many leadership positions at Orrick. Don most recently lead Orrick’s Technology Sector, which is one of the three focus areas (along with energy and finance) for the firm. Don is a former member of Orrick’s Board of Directors, served as head of the firm’s global corporate practice,  served as head of the firm’s Silicon Valley Office and served as co-head of the firm's diversity efforts.

Don also previously served for many years on the Executive Committee of Venture Law Group.

Don has recently represented companies being sold in the following transactions: Wavefront to VMware; Nervana to Intel; TOA to Oracle; Altiscale to SAP; Mainframe2 to Nutanix; Sailthru to Campaign Monitor; Twin Prime to Salesforce; 3Scale to Red Hat; Vendavo to Francisco Partners; FoodyDirect to Goldbelly; Yieldex to AppNexus; and LS9 to Renewable Energy Group.

Don has worked on transactions for Google (Nasdaq GS: GOOG), Oracle (Nasdaq GS: ORCL), Tibco (Nasdaq GS: TIBX), Adaptec (Nasdaq GS: ADPT), Shutterfly (Nasdaq GS: SFLY), Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia (NYSE:MSO), Sum Total Systems (Nasdaq GS: SUMT) and Rambus (Nasdaq GS: RMBS). He also has represented many investment banking clients in public offering transactions, including representing Goldman, Sachs & Co. in offerings for many issuers.

Don is a past member of the Board of Overseers of Boston College Law School.

A licensed attorney with a secondary background in finance, Jake is a seasoned law company professional with a track record of partnering with customers to deliver innovative, efficient solutions with measurable results. These partnerships have led to several of Jake’s customers being recognized with legal industry awards. Jake’s customers are global, and so is his team, which provides managed legal operations services for multiple Fortune 500 companies and Am Law 100 law firms. Prior to joining Elevate in 2012, Jake was previously at UnitedLex and KPMG and has worked as an in-house accountant. He also has extensive experience working abroad in India. Jake holds a Bachelor's degree in Accounting from the University of Kansas, and a JD from St. Louis University.
